New findings suggest compatibility readings are becoming part of the emotional afterlife of relationships, offering structure, reflection, and closure long after separation.
In the months following a breakup, many people do not simply sever ties and move on. Instead, they return to the digital traces of relationships that no longer exist: archived chat threads, photo galleries, shared playlists, and increasingly, emotional records created during the relationship itself. According to new internal data from the Hint App, this process can last significantly longer than previously assumed.
In a recent survey of 7,462 Hint App users who ended a relationship within the past year and consented to anonymized behavioral analysis, 41% said they revisited relationship compatibility reports for up to six months after the breakup. An additional 18% engaged with the same material beyond that point.
Unlike photos or text exchanges, astrology reports offer structured emotional narratives, frameworks for understanding timing, patterns, and relational dynamics. In the Hint App ecosystem, these documents are timestamped and personalized, anchoring them to specific emotional contexts that remain relevant even after the relationship ends.
According to Kirill Liakh, managing director of the Hint App, the prolonged engagement reflects a shift in how emotional closure is processed in digital environments. “We are seeing that people grieve relationships through memory and meaning,” he said. “Compatibility reports are revisited because they offer language for what happened, and for what didn’t.”
Internal usage data supports this interpretation. Among users who returned to compatibility readings post-breakup, 64% focused on sections related to emotional timing and communication mismatches, while 52% revisited narrative summaries rather than predictive content. Engagement typically peaks between six and ten weeks after a split, a period when contact with ex-partners tends to drop, but emotional processing remains active.
Post-breakup consultations have also become more reflective. Hint App astrologers report that clients increasingly use the chart as a record rather than a forecast. “Many are not asking whether they’ll reunite,” one noted. “They’re trying to make sense of what the relationship meant.”
The survey further found that 29% of users described revisiting reports as part of achieving closure, while 21% said they returned to them in moments of loneliness or emotional regression, particularly at night. Only 9% said they did so with the hope of rekindling contact, indicating the behavior is more about interpretation than reconciliation.
These patterns mirror broader shifts in how people archive and revisit emotional experience. While photographs and chat logs preserve events, astrology reports preserve interpretation. As digital records continue to mediate how relationships are remembered, the emotional afterlife of love becomes more structured, searchable, and persistent.
The data suggests that moving on no longer means letting go; it means returning, again and again, to understand what remains.
