62% choose emotional interpretation over algorithmic certainty in relationships, according to a worldwide Hint App survey of 10,400 users around the world.
As AI-driven matchmaking tools become more embedded in dating culture, many users appear to prefer emotional interpretation over predictive outputs when navigating relationships, according to new survey data released by Hint App.
The worldwide Hint App survey, conducted among 10,400 users across global markets, found that 62% prefer interpretive guidance over algorithmic predictions about romantic compatibility or relationship outcomes.
Rather than seeking forecasts about whether relationships will succeed or fail, respondents said they use the platform to better understand emotional patterns, behavioural tendencies and personal readiness for connection.
The findings suggest a broader shift in how people engage with digital tools in romantic contexts, with users moving away from deterministic predictions and toward systems designed for reflection and self-understanding.
More than half of respondents (53%) said they use the platform during periods of emotional transition, including post-breakup reflection, the early stages of dating or reassessing long-term relationships. Another 41% said they turn to insight tools before restarting contact with a former partner, while 37% use them when deciding whether a new relationship dynamic feels emotionally sustainable.
Usage data also shows seasonal spikes around culturally significant moments such as Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Day and the start of autumn, periods when relationship reflection tends to intensify.
Demographically, the survey found that 71% of users identify as female, while 58% are aged 18 to 39, suggesting a user base concentrated among younger, digitally active adults.
"Users are increasingly skeptical of systems that promise certainty in deeply human decisions," said Kirill Liakh, Managing Director at Hint App. "What they appear to value more is context: understanding recurring patterns, communication habits, and emotional timing rather than being told a fixed outcome."
The results reflect a broader tension in digital dating environments, where predictive matching systems increasingly coexist with tools focused on emotional processing and self-awareness.
While predictive models in dating have become more prominent in recent years, the survey suggests many users remain cautious about relying on deterministic outputs in emotionally nuanced situations such as reconciliation, commitment decisions or navigating mixed signals early in a relationship.
Instead, respondents indicated a preference for tools that provide context, reflection and personal insight rather than fixed conclusions about compatibility.
As digital platforms continue to shape how people approach relationships, the findings highlight a growing distinction between systems that predict outcomes and those that help users interpret emotional experience. The trend suggests users are not rejecting technology in romance, but redefining the role it plays.
